National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Clark Griswold Action Figure - Joy to the World!
It's one of the most iconic holiday movies of all time. Released in 1989, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation continued the series of 'vacation' movies starring Chevy Chase and Bevery D'Angelo as Clark and Ellen Griswold. Along with their rotating cast of kids, the grandparents and country bumpkin Cousin Eddie and his family, Clark is determined to deliver a fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. But this isn't about the movie, this is about the McFarlane Toys action figure! Yes, the same people who bring you Batman and Spawn have brought us a heck of a present under our squirrel-infested tree--the Clark Grisworld action figure showing him valiantly plugging in his Christmas light-covered house. "JOY TO THE WOOOORLD".
The figure, more of a statue, is part of the Movie Maniacs line and part of Warner Bros. 100th anniversary celebration. The likeness of Chevy Chase is not perfect, but it gets the message across. The only creative license with the figure is Clark's hat, which simply says Chicago. In the movie, it was a Chicago Bears hat, so, for licensing reasons they likely had to make that concession. A limited edition of 5,000 and one of the McFarlane Gold Label figures, Clark comes with a snowy base and a Wally World moose goblet. There's also a collector card, stand and mysteriously, a bonus item. It's a collector's item, I don't want to crack it open to find out what the collector's item is!
The figure was announced around Black Friday as a pre-order from McFarlane Toys store and a few other retailers. As of this writing, you should be able to still pick one up. And if you do, you may just find you're having the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye.
