Saturday Afternoon Haul features Batman Beyond, Spawn and more!

We're taking a break from Halloween this weekend for a merch haul featuring Batman and Spawn McFarlane Toys figures. Our local Walmart really hit with chase figures and, to the chagrin of my wallet, featuring many of my favorite characters or figures I've been looking forward to.

There was a brief time in the New 52 when DC decided Tim Drake would travel to the future and takeover as Batman Beyond. But, like most things DC does, they never followed through or made the character resemeble anything like his contemporary, younger self. The story was eventually dropped and reverted to a previously-dead Terry McGinnis. Regardless, Batman Beyond and the aesthetic of that animated series design have always been one of my favorites. This new Batman Beyond figure is a chase or Platinum Edition.

My second favorite from this haul is the Batman/Superman Fusion character from the most recent World's Finest comic run. This was also a Platinum Edition and features transluscent, green legs. I love the design and it actually reminds me of something that could come right out of the Batman Beyond world.

Next up is the Ben Affleck Batman from "The Flash." The coloring is more in line with the suit from the movie with a blue-tinted cowl. While not a favorite design, I appreciate the more tactical approach in how the suit works. Joining him is a Batman, who is no Batman at all: Dr. Hugo Strange dressed in the Caped Crusader's suit as seen in the "Prey" storyline.

And finally, I had to have this Spawn figure. I really wanted the red version, but Walmart only had this chase version in blue. The animated-style look makes it look unique and a great addition to my small Spawn collection.
